QUESTION: Hi your answers have been of great help for me and my friends. i got my PR and landed in Canada on April 2005 and came back to US. Currently i work in US on H1B visa. My three year limit is almost over. can i now stay in canada and work in Detroit starting June 2007. Will i be satisfying the PR status or will it cause problems for me. That will keep your PR card alive and can extend your H1B because although it is a three year visa, it is really for 1095 days although the deadline remains the same. If you can prove that you were only in the US for five days a week, they can extend your H1B proportionally past the normal seven years. In fact, if you keep track of the hours, you can end up doubling the length of time you can have an H1B visa. Therefore, it is to your advantage to live in Canada and commute. If you do it for three years, you will qualify for Canadian citizenship and after that, you can use a TN visa to work in the US provided your job qualifies.
