QUESTION:
Hello there,
I have been visiting Vancouver and I have been thinking I would like to live
here, is it impossible for a 30 year old American male with a couple of
degrees in History to get a visa to work or live here in BC?
What would I need to do to make this happen and could you help me?

Certainly - If you can find a teaching job in a post secondary institution
such as Capilano College or Simon Fraser University, you can qualify to come
and work in Canada with about 24 hours of notice under the terms of the
North American free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Other avenues are open as well.
You would likely qualify to sponsor yourself and can check that out by
filling in the self-assessing questionnaire at:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/assess/index.html
This is the self-assessment test for an individual to determine his or her
eligibility to immigrate to Canada without being sponsored by a spouse.
In addition, other possibilities could be that you find a job and have that
company sponsor you as a worker.
