Fiancé in Canada From Pakistan -
Date: Sunday May 21, 2006 Time: 05:55 PM -0700 QUESTION: Dear David, I was interested in finding out a few answers of the questions which i have to get my self sponsored by my fiancé into Canada. She and her family immigrated to Canada to xxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxx a month ago and she is working there full time, they recently got their PR Card as well. We got engaged on 5th July 2005. I am finishing my degree in computers from the UK and am here on a student visa. We got engaged with all our families blessings and have got a pictorial proof of it. We have settled the dates of the wedding which is on the 24th of Dec 2006 in Pakistan and a proof of the booking can be provided as well please advise me as in how strong our case is and how shall we go about it as i have recently developed my interest in immigrating over to Canada for a better future. Kind Regards, ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- david ingram replies: Canada does not allow a fiancée to be sponsored to Canada. A spouse out of the country can be sponsored by a PR but the PR spouse must be in Canada. However, if you are about to graduate with a degree in Computer Science you may qualify on your own which would be a clean way to come to Canada. Or, You might want to register in a post graduate course in Canada and come as a student and have her sponsor you from within Canada which would be easier and quicker. The following is the paperwork your wife will need to fill out "after" the wedding. In the meantime, you could get started on your own paperwork. The following other Q & A contains the paperwork for a spouse to sponsor a spouse and at the end, you will find a spot to fill in a self assessment quiz. ------------------------------------------ THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP AND FORMS YOU CAN TELL US WE WILL NEED TO IMMIGRATE THE WIFE FROM CHINA TO CANADA. =================== david ingram replies: The following deals with sponsoring a spouse into Canada: I can not guarantee that you will not have any problems but if you have no problems in any of your backgrounds and your lady in is good health, you should be able to sponsor her by filling in the following forms by yourself. If there are any "really" questionable situations, you should consult with an Immigration lawyer. If there is nothing questionable that requires privileged communication, you can and should consult with a member of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants. In general, you can likely fill them in yourself. If you do need help, you can contact me.
