This is a two part question.
Question#1-I am on a TN visa working in the US. I
would like to bring some of my furniture from my
Canadian Home (temporally). Rent a U-Haul Truck and
drive across. What is the process with the US customs.
Also I am planing to bring my family with me once my
kid finishes the school year in Canada. My job is a
permanent contract. When I bring my family, I was
told I'll have to apply for TN dependant visa for my
wife and kid. Can you explain the process and
procedure with the US Immigration at the boarder.

The fact that you have said that your job is a permanent contract means that
you are NOT eligible for a TN visa. Your employer should be getting you an
H1 if the job is permanent.
Whatever you do, do NOT show up at the border with your furniture or your
wife and kids and talk about a permanent job OR even an intention to apply
for a permanent visa. It is a sure fire method of having your visa lifted.
However, assuming that you are taking the furniture temporarily and it is
from the house you live in with your family in Canada, just make a list of
everything and how up at the border. I can NOT guarantee it, but you should
not have any problem at the border.
As i said before, if you are temporary, the same thing applies to the
family, show up at the border with all the same documents you had for your
TN and TD visas should be issued. However, if you, your wife or kids should
start talking about being in the US for more than a year from the date of
your visa, they will not get the TD visas and the TN will be cancelled.
Get your employer to get you an H1 if the job is permanent.
An H1 is a dual intent visa and allows you to go for a green card and
eventual US citizenship.
And remember where to send the tax returns.
