I subscribe to your Q&A column. I was surprised to see the following
statement in one your replies:
"To learn how to make your mortgage interest deductible when you buy this
house you should attend one of the Thursday Seminars at Fred Snyder's
office."
We are moving to Waterloo, Canada and were under the impression that
mortgage interest is NOT tax deductible in Canada unlike in the US. Any
advice will be great. I live in Calfornia and so attending Fred Snyder's
seminar would be difficult!

It is relatively easy to make Mortgage Interest deductible in Canada
although you do need a paper trail. In fact, it is a better deduction in
Canada than it is in the US once organized.
You can read my original dissertation on the subject at www.centa.com - go
to the top left hand box and click on newsletters. Read the November 2001
version. If you click on March 1997, you will see a previous one and I am
about to come out with a book on the subject. The Working title is "the
CEN-TA Clause".
