Hi David,
Thanks you very much for providing valuable solutions to myriads of
problems.
Here is mine. We (child, spouse and I) became US Green Card holders in Oct
2005. Prior to obtaining that we were Canadian PR holders, living in
Vancouver. Hence, we would like to drop our Canadian Permanent Residency and
just keep being US permanent residents. We moved to the US (WA) as soon as
we obtained the Green Card. How do I go about changing my Canadian status?

I wish you had taken out Canadian Citizenship BEFORE leaving but I imagine
that you put your name in for the US lottery and won as it were.
The good news is that you do not have to do anything. To keep your Canadian
PR status alive, you have to live in Canada for 2 out of every three years.
Under that rule, your PR cards will expire automatically in Oct 2008 if you
left in Oct 2005.
In the meantime, you have another 32 months or so to decide which country
you like best. Just remember, you can come back up to Sept 2008 for sure
and can NOT come back in November 2008 so some serious thinking is in order.
