QUESTION:
I am a canadian resident. Have not claimed US interest
income in canada for several years. Canada revenue sent a
letter regarding year 2002 foreign income tax not
reported & requested an answer on the reason & that they
will reassess. How to approach this for this year & all the
other years the have not asked yet? how bad is the
situation?

You should report at least the last six yeas of interest immediately by
filing T1-Adj forms for each year. The situation is very bad if we are
talking thousands and not bad if we are talking $150.00
Get it done right away and we would be glad to help you. About half of our
clients live in another province or another country.
The US and Canada have been comparing computer tapes of investment
recipients with an address in another country. Four years ago it was
Hawaii.
