Mortgage Broker & Rental Income and Search feature at
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Dear Mr. Ingram, Many months ago I contacted you about renting out a basement suite. Recently, my wife and I think we've found a house that we would like to buy. It has a legal basement suite too. We hope to close the deal in a couple of days. I hope you can help us out with a few questions we have: 1. You once recommended a mortgage broker who knew how to best structure a mortgage so it is deductible. Can I have her name? Do you still recommend her? 2. We have no other rental properties, only the basement suite will be rental. Do we still qualify for your 'creative' method to deduct the mortgage? Or, do we simply deduct the right proportion of expenses from the rental income and pay tax on the remainder? By the way, while I like the revamped look of your website, I couldn't find the answers to #1 or #2 above. At one time I thought there was more on those topics available, maybe I just couldn't find it. Thank You JXXXXXXXXXXX ================================ david ingram replies: The information about making the mortgage deductible can be found in the November 2001 newsletter. go to www.centa.com - click on newsletters, click on 2001, click on November. You will also find Joan Marsh's phone number which is (604) 535-9981 Yes, I still recommend her for arranging your affairs to be deductible. With regard to finding something, I went into [search CEN-TA] - typed in Moretgage Broker and found Joan's phone number and name in the first hit. the reference to the newsletter was in the same hit. What is likley wrong is that the Search Feature is a little hard to see. I have copied this to Richard Pitt the Webmaster who by the way was a partner in Wimsey.Com the first Commercial ISP in Canada that we know of. I say this because Richard is looking for a new project. He does one hell of a job. Our site comes up number one or two in half the jurisdiuctions in North Amercia if you type in "income tax expert". If you type in "us canada income tax expert" and then add New York or San Francisco or Seattle or Saudi Arabia or Libya, we also come out number one. Richard knows what he is doing if you want position. Of course, being hosted by www.featureweb.com is also a real plus for anyone. Their clinets are always in the top five if you search for them. --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
