Needs US Canadian California tax preparation - and
David, I am a PhD student at the University of California, Los Angeles. I am a Canadian resident, and I have a number of large fellowships from both US and Canadian sources. I need to find a financial advior who can help me on my tax filing, figuring out how much I should buy in RRSPs etc. If you may be of assistance or could direct me to someone who may be able to meet with me, it would be most appreciated. I will be in Vancouver for the month of August. Many thanks, NXXXX 250-247-xxxx ==================================== david ingram replies: That is what we do. August will be fine. The day you wrote this, I was dealing with a person in the same position at the UCLA Irvine campus. I would likely look after the tax and if you wanted to deal with Mutual Fund or fixed term debt instrument RRSP's, George Hatton CA, in our office is a representative of Cartier Partners and also has two sons in the USA which means he has a personal interest in cross-border RRSP issues which can be very onerous. For instance, if your Canadian residence is Saskatchewan or BC, George can deal with you but if your residence was in any other Canadian Province or Territory, George could not deal with you. Email me a preferred appointment time(s) (poreferably the start of August so there is time for more info if something is missing. We will also need a T2202 filled out and signed by UCLA for the purposes of claiming your tuition and educational credits from UCLA. You can print a blank T2200 at http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/t2202/t2202-02e.pdf Take it to the registrar's office and have them fill it our for you and sign it. Having it in US dollars is fine but have them make a note on it that the fee was paid in US dollars.
