As many people know, I won a bid on eBay to buy a printer from
CompAtlanta in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

I had won a printer for $107.50 and the seller would not sell it
to me because I was a Canadian and our
government was not supporting the US.
It did not matter to Sid or Dana that I might be supporting the
USA personally and that I WANTED THE PRINTER SENT TO A US
ADDRESS, they were just concerned that I was a Canadian. They
would not even consider that I might be (I am not) a US citizen
living in Canada as one of my associates and hundreds of clients
are.
Two weeks later, I received a notice that I had not paid for the
printer and was a bad boy according to eBay rules.
I then paid $167.50 for the printer and the COMPATLANTA system
accepted my payment with a delivery address in the State of
Washington.,
Shortly thereafter, I received a notice that my payment had been
returned although I have not seen it yet.
Last night, April 13, 2003 at Midnight or so, I bought at least 7
flags (US and Canadian) on eBay. These were purchased from a
company which displays a willingness to sell AND SHIP TO Canada.
To my surprize, when I tried to get into the site to pay for them
this morning, I found that I had been suspended by eBay because
CompAtlanta had complained to eBay that I had not paid for the
printer.
I can not find anywhere on the eBay site where there is a phone
number for me to talk to a person. When I reply to their email
it comes back. (After all, I am suspended). Apparently, the
only thing I can do is deal with COMPATLANTA but they have
supposedly already sent back my wife's money and have complained
officially to eBay that I have ignored them and not paid for it.
Now this story has made TIME magazine, the National Post and
another 100 papers around the world.
I blame this on Chretien. He is golfing in the Dominican
Republic while Border Trade is being halted because of his
policies. I also note that Vancouver Province columnist Mark
Toner commented in today's column that he had been turned down by
eBay because he was a Canadian. He also has a PROUD ".ca" email
address for his bidding.
And what stupid remark did the new leader of the NDP party make
in Ottawa yesterday when it was announced that President Bush had
cancelled his meeting with Chretien. Jack Layton made some sort
of remark to the effect that he hoped that BUSH was not using the
time to plan an attack on Syria or something in that vein.
